Favoritism and Family Problems (Part 1) (Genesis 37:1-11)

Stephen Weaver, January 6, 2013
Part of the Genesis series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This Sunday we will be picking up our series in the book of Genesis. Our study will begin in chapter 37. We will be studying verses 1-4 where Joseph is introduced and Jacob is set aside for a while. The author now wants to focus on Joseph for the rest of Genesis. The problem that is before us, in verses 1-4 is the favoritism Jacob showed toward Joseph and the problems it created in the family. But was the favoritism warranted? Is showing favoritism ever ok? Many of harbored hurts in adults are and can be attributed to parents showing favoritism in the home. Is this a problem in many homes? Yes, and we will discuss why on Sunday morning.
