The Struggle of the Cross (Matthew 26:36-46)

Stephen Weaver, October 21, 2018
Part of the Communion series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This Sunday, we will have a special service including serving the Lord’s supper. Our message will be from the book of Matthew, chapter 26 verses 36-46. Here we find Christ in the garden with His disciples just before His arrest. His desire is to pray, alone, while His disciples pray too and keep watch not too far from Him. He prays a very emotional prayer asking the Father if there might be another way to God’s plan of crucifixion. While he prays struggling, he goes to “check” on the disciples 3 times and finds them sleeping. Will they be ready when the officials come to make the arrest? Will Jesus be ready? More on all this Sunday morning…
