Jesus Cleanses the Temple (John 2:12-25)

This Sunday morning, we continue our series in the gospel of John. We will be looking at chapter 2 verses 12-25. In this passage we have Jesus coming to the temple at the time of the Jewish Passover which is followed by the feast of Unleavened Bread. As Jesus travels to Jerusalem He begins to notice some troubling things. The amount of people traveling there is expected as so many travelled there as expected for worship. What seemed to be a business atmosphere, Jesus noticed, was at its worst in the temple area. Jesus is appalled and angered at the marketplace scene, and takes steps to cleanse His Father’s temple. So, what is the real problem with the people in this passage that John, the writer, wants us to see? That’s what our message will be about this Sunday morning…
