Problem with Envy? (John 3:22-30)

Stephen Weaver, April 14, 2019
Part of the John series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This Sunday morning, we continue our series in the gospel of John. We will be looking at chapter 3 verses 22-30. In this passage John the Baptizer is mentioned again, to teach the reader about humility as John is a good example of someone that chooses not to be envious (jealous) of Jesus and His success. This passage points out that as Jesus’ ministry continues to become more open and more public that John the Baptizers ministry will continue to wind down with less and less people coming to him. But this upsets John’s disciples and they complain to John about it. John answers them calmly but sternly as he shows them his purpose and attitude. That He (Jesus) must increase and I (John) must decrease! More on this Sunday morning including 6 problems with an envious heart…
