Watch Your Tongue (Part 1) (James 3:1-12)

Stephen Weaver, March 11, 2012
Part of the James series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

For the next 2 Sunday mornings we will be talking about the tongue. In James chapter 3 and verses 1-12 James shares warnings about a very little bodily organ that the scattered believers would have a hard time controlling.
And certainly would we not have the same trouble controlling our tongue? The uncontrolled tongue can do so much damage; we need the Lord’s help in controlling it.

As a matter of fact – James teaches – it takes a controlled heart in order to control (tame) that tongue. Watch what you say! It will keep you out of trouble. It will reveal your heart. James uses arguments and illustrations to give strong warnings about the tongue.
