Crimes and Weakness (Genesis 37:18-28)
Stephen Weaver, January 27, 2013Part of the Genesis series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
This Sunday we continue our series in Genesis chapter 37, we look at verses 18-28. Here we have the tragic details of crimes and weakness. The shocking details of what Joseph’s brothers do to him. And we see the troubling details of their cover-up. Weakness in sin will always lead to hiding sin, so as not to see it as that bad. But sin is sin in God’s eyes and lying or covering over it never works. Every person attempts to lessen sin in their life as to try and think “I’m not so bad.” We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23; Isaiah 53:6); we all need to be forgiven of our daily sin (1 John 1:9) We need to see ourselves as privileged sinners – saved by grace, free from sin (Romans 6:18)! More about this Sunday morning…
