Waiting on the Lord (Genesis 40:1-10)
Stephen Weaver, April 7, 2013Part of the Genesis series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
This Sunday we will be studying Genesis 40. In this passage we have the continuation
of Joseph’s imprisonment because of the false accusations of Potiphar’s wife. This story includes 2 of Pharaoh’s officers who have “offended” him and end up in the same prison as Joseph under his care. After the chief cupbearer and chief baker have a dream, and Joseph interprets them; one is restored and the other hanged. Before being restored the cupbearer is asked of Joseph to mention him to the king and the mistreatment that he has endured. That was Joseph’s plan, it didn’t work; because God had another plan that would mean remaining in prison for another 2 full years! Talk about having to wait on the Lord! God’s plan is always better than ours and incudes many times waiting. More on this Sunday morning…
