The Oxymoron of Death (Philippians 1:19-26)

Stephen Weaver, August 25, 2013
Part of the Philippians series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This Sunday, we are continuing our series studying the book of Philippians, and looking at chapter 1 verses 19-26. Here Paul talks about the probability of his trial resulting in his release from prison. Although he can’t be sure he will be released; he does know what the alternative is. He shares why in verse 21 which is probably the most famous verse in Philippians: “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” He would rather go to be with the Lord, yet still would like to be able to minister to his friends that he is writing to. Paul teaches us some important lessons from God on these life and death issues. More on this Sunday morning. . .
