Conscience and Confidence (1 John 3:19-22)

Stephen Weaver, April 12, 2015
Part of the 1 John series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

This Sunday as we continue our series in the book of 1 John; we will be looking at chapter 3 verses 19-22. Here John is concerned, after writing quite a tall order of loving others, that some believers’ conscience will condemn them unjustly with feelings of inadequacy or incapability of living these commands out. So he reminds them [us] that God is greater than our conscience and that He knows us, that we are flesh in his presence; because believers can often “beat themselves up” with unnecessary guilt. Of course, all this in light of the fact that all believers should be always pursuing a life of holiness before God. So, what bothers your conscience the most? More on this Sunday morning…
