The Plague of Darkness (Exodus 10:21-29)

Stephen Weaver, August 19, 2018
Part of the Exodus series, preached at a Sunday Evening service

On Sunday evening we continue our series in the book of Exodus, looking at chapter 10:21-29. Here we have the continuing story and drama of God humiliating Pharaoh and the Egyptians. This the 9th plague, the plague of darkness. This is, in a sense, the last chance for Pharaoh and the Egyptians. While this plague has no warning with it, it does bring about a last confrontation or attempt to deal on Pharaoh’s part, but when Moses (God) says “no deal;” it becomes the end of all negotiations before a great loss of life occurs in the tenth plague. God’s final call to Pharaoh and the Egyptians. When is “God’s final call” to people today? We cannot tell so we better not take any chances! More on all this Sunday evening…
